The 2nd Annual education fundraiser, SAVOR – A Wine and Chocolate Fundraising Event, was held last August at the beautiful setting of Po’oku Meadow in Princeville where over 200 people attended. Local Kauai chefs and chocolatiers served up mouth-watering delicacies with cacao as one of the ingredients, which included pupus, small main dishes, and desserts. Selections of delicious wines accompanied the dishes. All food and wine were included in the ticket price while a no-host bar offered beer or spirits for those who didn’t drink wine.
Four recipients of the 2016 KCC scholarship were on hand to check everyone in, and Key Club students from Kapa’a High School helped throughout the evening. TreySara provided beautiful entertainment, and both live auction and silent auction items contributed to the overall funds raised. We were thrilled to gross over $31,000 from ticket sales, donations and auction items – no small feat for our community. Even though our expenses were more this year due to the venue costs, the net proceeds will benefit scholarships for Kauai North Shore youth. The Kauai North Shore Community Foundation will once again support elementary, middle and high school youth, including our own homegrown programs – Leap Forward and Help Me With My Homework.
