The Kilauea School Playground
The main playground structure, used by children in kindergarten through 3rd grade, was recently condemned as unsafe and roped off by the state’s Department of Education (DOE). Working with the Kilauea School PTSA, the Kauai North Shore Community Foundation granted $5,000 towards the purchase and installation of new structures for the Kilauea School Playground.
Foundation Director, Mary Paterson & Rotarian, Jonathan McRoberts recently attended a wonderful Mahalo Party put on by the Kilauea PTSA to thank the many people who have donated time, treasure or talent towards the School playground project. The Kauai North Shore Community Foundation gave a grant of $5,000 to help their cause, which I understand raised their donations to a level that enabled them to get a matching grant, so we are thrilled our donation meant so much. The parents & teachers of the Kilauea School really went all out to make us all feel appreciated, sharing delicious pupu’s by Emma Guy as well as other parents, and a talented musical duo, plus a superb fire dancing performance. It was heartening to hear from many teachers and parents how many of them are enjoying the North Shore Dog Park and feel it filled a real community need.
Mahalo to the hosts and entire Kilauea PTSA for a really lovely evening.
