Give the Gift of Health
The North Shore of Kauai has no hospital and only one urgent care facility, Makana North Shore Urgent Care, so residents and visitors must drive an hour or more to get many medical services and treatment.
To help solve this challenge, North Shore Give launched Gift of Health, a multi-year fundraising initiative to expand medical services at Makana North Shore Urgent Care.
In 2025, together with the community of generous donors, North Shore Give purchased an ultrasound machine for Makana. This vital equipment allows medical professionals to visualize and capture images of internal organs, tissues, and structures, enabling non-invasive examinations of organs, blood vessels, and other vital components.
In 2026, we’re fundraising to purchase diagnostic equipment (for example, so blood test results are available in 15 minutes, not 2-3 days) and other upgrades to expand medical care.

Ohana FitFest benefits North Shore schools.
Ohana FitFest is a joyful celebration of wellness, fun, and connection. Hosted each year by North Shore Give, this beloved event brings our community together in the spirit of fun and fitness.
2026 is the 13th anniversary of Ohana FitFest and will take place at the Anaina Hou Community Park and Wai Koa Trail, and include a 5K Fun Run/Walk with family-friendly obstacles and a 10K Trail Run (no obstacles). All ages are welcome, keiki to kūpuna, residents and visitors.

On Kauaʻi’s remote North Shore, we depend on partnerships and neighbors helping neighbors. Your sponsorship helps strengthen disaster preparedness through North Shore Ready, expands access to healthcare through Gift of Health, and brings our community together through Ohana FitFest, building the connections that make our community stronger before, during, and after times of need.
Last year’s event provided $20,000 in grants to North Shore elementary schools and the new Namahana School. Since its inception, Ohana FitFest has donated more than $160,000 to local nonprofits and community initiatives that improve life for North Shore families.

Mahalo for helping us keep the North Shore Barkyard open for the community.
Annual maintenance costs for the park total over $10,000, covering expenses like mowing, tree trimming, hedging, property taxes, fence repairs, and more. Our goal is to raise enough funds to cover a full year of maintenance while building a reserve fund for future repairs to fences, benches, and shade structures.

A Heartfelt Gathering and Joyful Celebration
The North Shore Give Gala was where community, generosity, and purpose came together. Held at the Anaina Hou Porter Pavilion, the evening felt relaxed, welcoming, and full of familiar faces. Guests engaged in the online and live auctions and came together in a spirited “Dash for Cash,” raising $25,000 to expand medical care at Makana North Shore Urgent Care. It was neighbors showing up for neighbors, longtime supporters alongside new friends, all sharing a sense of ʻohana. Together, something meaningful had been made possible for the North Shore community.
