  • Joseph Phelps Insignia 2016

    Professional Review

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate scored this 99 points saying “Bottled in January 2019, the 2016 Insignia is a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec, aged for 24 months in 100% new French oak barrels. Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose is a little reticent to begin, needing a fair bit of coaxing to reveal beautifully beguiling notions of wild blueberries, warm blackberries, black currant cordial, cloves and cedar chest with nuances of camphor, yeast extract, charcuterie and candied violets. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has fantastic elegance and depth, revealing loads of subtle floral, black fruit and earthy layers with a firm, very finely grained texture and seamless freshness, finishing with epic length.”

  • Opus One 2005 is a Voluptuous Garnet

    Review from Jeb Dunnuck

“From a cooler vintage, the 2005 Opus One is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 3% each of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, with the final 1% Malbec brought up, I believe, in mostly new French oak. It’s another beautifully perfumed wine that’s firing on all cylinders today and offers mature dark fruits, sappy tobacco, chocolate, and abundant minerality. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it’s fully mature yet still has good mid-palate depth, noticeable tannins, and a great finish. I’d certainly be thrilled to drink a bottle.”

  • Shafer Hillside 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon

    Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate says:
“Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select displays a deep garnet-purple color. It charges out of the gate with bold crème de cassis, blueberry pie and black cherry preserves notes, plus hints of smoked meats, fragrant earth and tar, with a fragrant waft of violets and Provence herbs. Full-bodied, the palate is packed with muscular black fruits, supported by a solid foundation of firm, grainy tannins and compelling freshness, finishing long with an enticing herbal lift.
    Rating: 98+”
